Government Shutdown

It’s finally over. It’s been a couple days of anxiety for some military members. For those of you that don’t know, in the event of a government shutdown, the military isn’t paid. Reservists and contractors don’t come into work. Active duty still comes in at their reporting time and still does the job they signed up to do.

I’ll save all the political debates and opinions for those that specialize in sharing them.

I merely wanted to point out something real quick.

When the NFL football players were taking a knee during the national anthem, the outcry from the rest of the United States was apparent. My Facebook news feed was filled with frustration and shock. These posts took up the majority of my feed. Since the government shut down on Friday, I haven’t seen a single, non-military affiliated person post a damn thing about the possibility of the military not getting paid.

I find that odd.

Football players must stand for the national anthem but if the military might go unpaid, it’s no big deal?

Awesome. Welcome to the millennial generation.
